Disney Princesses: lets clear up the misconceptions....

One thing that i find really infuriating is that ppl think Disney princesses are bad role models for girls and women in society e.g. "....While our adult selves may cringe at princess culture and the outdated stereotypes that come along with it." tres sugar
being portrayed as beautiful and thin

However, the exact opposite is the way i see it.All these interpretations ring true reflecting the many facets of a woman.

Belle:

* A smart chick who wasn't even looking for a love and rejected Guston, she's independent and she just wants to save her dad (like most girls our dads will always be the number one man in our lives). And lets be honest she fell for a beast! so OF COURSE he would do anything for her she's the only one who saw past his furry exterior.
CONCLUSION: not a damsel in distress (the best/prince was the lonely one who needed her), brave, not vain.
SOCIETY TODAY: chicks go for on looks e.g cosmo boy section, younger ladies don't even read book preferring blogs and other vain shit like gossip magazines. hmm....

Ariel:
*A rebellious, ballsy girl who wants to travel and see new things ( we can all relate to). Young and naive she sold her soul to the devil (ursula), so to speak to get what she wanted (again something we can somewhat relate to). She's herself when she's with eric who loves her coz she's fun and adventurous.
CONCLUSION: He came back to her (LOVE!) coz she was just a pawn in ursula's revenge plan, but hey she saw the opportunity and took what doors opened to her.
SOCIETY TODAY: young girls can relate to her...but instead the devil nowadays is drugs, sex and underage drinking... hmmmm... at least ariel didn't resort to that crap to get her voice back.....

Jasmine:

* A motherless princess wanting to get out there not be so protected by her dad. She's gutsy, witty and smart and knows how to make a guy work for it. Aladdin found her and did all types of things to impress.... she didn't even want to get married! independence and and example the modern woman.
CONCLUSION: aspired to be the people's princess by going outside the palace walls, went out herself and didnt ask for aladdin's help rather he did a crap load to impress her...
SOCIETY TODAY: famous celebrities who are gutsy, witty and smart women are hard to find. i mean if kim k can make a sex tape and be rewarded for it..what does THAT say to women? hmm.....

Snow White

*An orphan living with her evil step mum who completely jealous of her...now thats a sad situation! so being brave she runs into the forrest and makes friends. She can cook, clean and sing and it totally loyal to her friends. what more could a prince want?
CONCLUSION: brave enough to run away, friendly enough to make totally loyal friends. she was asleep when then prince came and kissed her...more like he needed her more than she needed him...she could've slept forever for all she could care...
SOCIETY TODAY: if you live with 5 guys then ppl would think the worst of you...but jess day in new girl followed suit from snow white and is living with all boys innocently and honestly.

Cinderella:

*ok so whoever had her life would obviously turn out strong & independent. Plus she's not even vengeful on her stepsisters and step mum this clearly gives a good message to women in general..(and clearly didnt get through to emily thorne/amanda clarke..lol).
CONCLUSION: a clear example that love happens in the most unexpected way...and a guy who's worth it will do anything to find you.
SOCIETY TODAY: there more broken families nowadays and children growing up with step siblings probably find it hard to get long at first and the step mum to step child complex is always hard..even for the brady bunch. I guess the moral of the story is that her inner strength helped her get through all the shit of being an orphan in an abusive household as well as loyal friends to help you through it- don't got off the rails and go all marissa cooper and start drink and stealing....take the higher/ classier route.

so they're the main ones and of course much can be said about the tiana, aurora, pocahontas, mulan, rapunzel but i think you get my drift and can see where i'm coming from :)

And most importantly.... these movies are not the most influential part of a child's life..the parents and family are. I guess people need to realise that before tearing into Disney movies!

So don't stop believing with the faith and hope of your inner child :)
